Initiative for the Improvement of Women’s Livelihood through Micro-credit Program Project:

    INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITIES IGA PROGRAM:

    The objective for the targeted people under this project is to involve them in different self-employment based Income Generating Activities by providing both kinds of training (technical & financial management) from organization and short-term credit disbursement. Under the program CDS implementing major activities -Agricultural project for crop harvesting, Vegetable cultivation, Fish rearing project, Nursery, Tree plantation & Maintenance activities, Small Enterprise, Cattle & Poultry Rearing etc for women group members. The credit is realized in weekly installment basis with 15% service charge.

     CHANDRADIP has observed that maximum women of its working area are helpless & financially backward. So to make them self reliant or reduce their dependency on others or on money lenders    and also to flourish their empowerment & leadership, CHANDRADIP has undertaken the project with the direct financial assistance from an International Organization ‘RABOBANK FOUNDATION, The Netherlands from 2002. There are two implementing areas under this project, one is Barisal Sadar & the one is Banaripara Upazilla under Barisal District and the beneficiaries are the helpless-oppressed-deprived poorest women. Chandradip started this program through imparting training on cage aquaculture & SME by providing credit support from Rabobank Foundation & from the organizational own fund of CDS. The project has been phase out in the year 2006 with an extension of one(1) year. With the donation provided by Rabobank Foundation along with organizational contribution making a revolving fund the IGA activities is going on at present in Barisal City Corporation slum areas for creating alternative income sources especially for ultra poor women headed families. Economic empowerment of the bottom 10% poor is the current vision of the project. Besides, small enterprise development along with local market linkage establishment is another component of the program.
